Fleet Foxes - “Shore” (September 22, 2020)
Fleet Foxes strike gold with “Shore”
By Steve Forrest
It’s a beautiful autumn day, the leaves have turned brilliant shades of orange & red, and I’m sitting here enjoying a nice warm cup of Fleet Foxes’ latest release “Shore”
The Seattle based folk group have always set the bar high in regards to their songwriting and with their fourth release “Shore” the standards have not diminished one bit.
This album is dreamy, warm, and exciting. Leaning on a more alternative soundscape, the songs on this album are light and effortless, yet just as profound as previous works.
The whimsical vocal melodies of frontman Robin Pecknold are as enchanting as ever, and although this album doesn’t lean as heavily on the signature layered backing harmonies of previous times, they are still very much alive and kicking. And with plenty of inspiration in the score, this album delivers musically as well with solid rhythms, and clever chord structures, making it the complete package.
“Shore” takes you on a journey much like any great album should, through all the colours and textures of the soul and leaves you in a warm haze upon it’s finish.
A very comfortable and creative album, Fleet Foxes continue to give us pure gold with “Shore” and hope for a new day ahead.
